The National Weather Service offices across New England have dedicated this week as Severe Weather Awareness Week. The National Weather Service in Gray, Maine will provide daily educational information throughout this week to help prepare our community for severe weather. ![]()
Public information education material will focus on these daily topics through the week.

The National Weather Service (NWS) is committed to saving lives and reducing property damage by issuing timely and specific severe thunderstorm and tornado watches and warnings. However, the ultimate responsibility for safety rests with you. The most effective defense against severe storms is a thoroughly practiced plan. You need to know how to remain informed, prepare immediately when a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch is issued, and take prompt action upon the issuance of a warning.![]()
